Rio and the Cycling Tour of Szeklerland

In the road race of cycling competition at the Summer Olympics to be held on August 6, 2016 will be at start no less than five riders present in previous years in Szeklerland. Two of them, the Serbian sprinter Ivan Stevic and the Croatian climber Matja Kvasina are former components of Tusnad Cycling Team. Apart from the two, will be present at Rio, according to the decisions of national federations, Sergei Ţvetcov (Romania), Ioánnis Tamourídis (Greece) and Stefan Koychev Hristov (Bulgaria). Four of the five have put their names in gold chronic of Szekler Tour. Hristow won in 2014, Tamourídis was second in 2011, Ţvetcov finished third in 2015 and Kvasina was the strongest on the mountain in 2012. Olympics ends for all five with the road race because none of the countries they represent not obtained the right to participate in the individual time trial scheduled on August 10.

High interest, strong competition

By the deadline for registration at the tenth edition of the Cycling Tour of Szeklerland they have sent forms a total of 15 teams, but in recent days announced their participation two more regional teams, one from Canada and the other from France, then just a day after Cycling Federation of Serbia sent their enrollment. As a result the number of participating teams in this year's Tour has reached 18. Yesterday, another regional team from Hungary signaled that they would gladly participate.

The peloton has never been so strong, this year announcing their participation not less then nine continetal team.
This represents a new record, the precedent dating from 2012 when there were six such teams present.

In this years Tour alongside of szekler riders will compete athletes of twenty country, as follows: Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Belarus, Finland, France, Netherlands, Canada, Latvia, Hungary, Germany, Moldavia, Norway, Italy, Russia, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Serbia, Ukraine and United States.
